Why do progressives downplay the unrest in Egypt?

Damned little we can do about it anyway. Mubarak has even admitted he is on the way out. He's just trying to make an orderly retreat, which I doubt will work. We are positioning ourselves to deal with whomever takes over, even if they are not our handpicked favorites. Islamic fundamentalists actually hate communism, liberalism and the left, more than they hate the USA. That is why we supported Mubarak, Bin Laden and Hussein. It was not out of love, but they were the "enemy of our enemy"
