Please someeone help me...how is God all loving if he actually helps us just so that we would give him praise?

ok, so i learned in church that God is doing all the good works (ex: saving israelites) and all the miracles and everything because he wants his name to be known so that he'll be praised...why? im totally sure that there's an answer to this question cuz like christianity has been around 4 soo long, sOMeone must have found an answer to this...i just feel so weird right now cuz i've been taught 4 such a long time that God is all-loving and all good and all merciful. but how could he be all those if he's just doing all this just so that we would praise him?
