I really need help with my 1992 Camaro RS?

My car runs great...when it runs. It turns over fine although it does need a new starter. It idles fine. It's just after it's been running for a while it suddenly dies. It still turns over when you go to start it but it won't start. If you spray starting fluid in the carburetor it starts right up and it'll run for another 5mins or another half an hour. It's wierd. I've been told it's probably some kind of sensor in the computer. I really need this problem fixed because it's very hard to keep doing this and I know that ether is bad for an engine when your doing it multiple times. Thank you for your help.
